Remodel or Move?
Deciding whether to remodel your
present home or move to a new one can
be a tough choice.
Once you're settled in a home, you
know the neighborhood, the commute,
the stores and the school districts.
If you've lived there for enough time,
your home may have substantially
appreciated in value, another good
reason to consider remodeling instead
of moving.
On the other hand, you may not want to
deal with the upheaval involved with
remodeling, including the dust,
chemicals and disruption of your space
and daily routine.
Many remodeling projects cost more
money and take more time than
expected. You also may not have the
space to add the square footage you
want. And if you over-improve the
property, it's often hard to get a
return on your remodeling investment
when you finally do sell.
Buying instead of remodeling can give
you the opportunity to choose a new
lifestyle - living closer to favorite
places and finding new neighborhood
favorites.
Ultimately, your decision to remodel
or move will be a matter of personal
choice. Many busy people find that
it's simply more convenient to buy a
new home than live through a major
remodeling project.

It's important not to
over-improve for the
neighborhood. I'd be
happy to help you
decide the best course
to follow.
